CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Qualification Description
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.

Please note that all courses are delivered and assessed by Capital Careers (2194). Care Training is not an RTO.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, all students will be required to have a working with vulnerable people and police check before commencing work placement.

Entry Requirements

• Good understanding of English
• School certificate or equivalent (Grade 10)
• 18 years of age
• Must have a valid USI
• Reading and Writing Skills (L)

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 15

7 core units plus
8 elective units, of which:

• All electives from Group B must be chosen for disability specialty.
• if not listed below, 1 unit may be from any currently endorsed Training Package at Certificate III level or above OR any accredited course at Certificate III level.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Work Placement
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work experience in a regulated aged care facility to be deemed competent for this qualification.

How long will it take?
Duration is dependent on training delivery mode, individual experience and skills. Students are required to complete a volume of learning of 1200 hours comprising of guided learning, individual study assessments and work placement. Generally the course will take anywhere between 6 months and a year to complete.

There are no such formal requirements for this course. You must have a good understanding of the English language as course material is only available in English.
You must be of a mature age (at least 18 years of age).
To enroll in this course, you should hold at least NSW school certificate or an equivalent qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.

Credit Transfer
Capital Careers has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations

Assessment
The course will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation and completion of assignments / projects.
